LEADERSHIP MATTERS

In the context of running for office, “Leadership” means sustaining the United States of America’s place as #1.  Along with “Liberty” and “Love” it is one of three important American ideals that will influence my decisions.

Our current political leaders may have realized their potential.  Their brand of persistent, partisan leadership is not a fit for 21st Century challenges.  It is time for a new brand of leadership that’s puts first things first i.e. American ideals.

My alma mater, George Mason University has a new tag line.  As a university that has fought to earn respect amongst a state full of well established institutions of higher education, GMU has found its place.  The school’s new motto is GMU:

  “Where innovation is tradition.”

I tend to think of the United States of America in the same way.  USA:  Where innovation is tradition.  The more competitive the world becomes is the more the world needs the leadership of the United States of America.   We have always been leaders and we must lead now.  We must continue to lead the world’s economy, we must endeavor to lead the world in education, we can lead the world as an energy producer and we should have the world’s leading government.  Yes, even our Federal government.

Many of you could add to this list but in the context of government, leadership means:

• Courage:  Identifying where we will and can be #1 in the world
• Creativity:  Innovating in areas where we haven’t before i.e. government itself
• Confidence:  Charting a clear vision, removing doubt and creating stability

Leadership MATTERS.
