Love Matters
“How can we love our country and not love our countrymen?”
~ Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, 1981 Inaugural Address
“So these three things continue forever: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
Patriotism to me, is defined as love.
In the context of running for office, “Love” means service to something greater than yourself. Along with “Liberty” and “Leadership” it is one of three important American ideals that will influence my decisions.
It takes love to serve our family and friends and it certainly will take a sense of love, passion and commitment to serve honorably in the United States Congress. I will bring the same passion for serving others to public office as I have done in private life.
I love this country and I love this generation of citizens. We have been through wars and recessions, social upheaval and raging technology. We have experienced immigration, witnessed terrorism, loved through divorce and mourned death. We are old enough to remember life before the internet yet young enough to leverage its power in a global economy. We are the ones who must now carve our initials into the wall of history.
As your Congressman, I am ready to accept that challenge. Love MATTERS.
